Why take out travel cancellation insurance?

Cancellation insurance is a protection that allows travellers to be reimbursed in the event of cancellation of their trip. It is often included in organised trips, but can also be taken out separately. The conditions vary according to the insurers, but in general, the cancellation insurance covers cases of force majeure such as illness, accident or death. Most cancellation insurance covers a specific trip and cannot be invoked for cancellations made a few days before departure.
